We know you'll have a terrific time while you're in the Texas Mountain Trail Region.
Visitors are attracted to our part of Texas because of our wide open spaces and high mountain desert climate. All visitors, especially first-timers, should consider the following:
- Plan ahead and make sure you have plenty of provisions. Food, supplies, water, gas and other commodities are only found at the major communities.
- Watch the weather. A sunny day can turn into a raging flood by afternoon, and the heat of summer can be deadly; always wear appropriate clothing, including a hat.
- You can extend your cell phone coverage by purchasing an inexpensive car top antenna. With it, you can use your cell phone in almost every part of the region. Your cell phone will still work without an extra antenna, but coverage may be reduced to the major communities in the region.
- Beware things that sting, bite, stick and prick; such is the nature of desert inhabitants.
- Respect private property. When in doubt about ownership, DO NOT ENTER.
- Always obtain permits for entry where required.
